Building engagement with chat

A versatile chat feature

Our simple and fun chat feature builds a sense of community and
increases user engagement alongside your activity challenge.

Group Chat

Communicate with the whole group

A group chat thread will automatically open when you create a group. All group participants will be included in this chat thread once they join the group or are added by an admin.

Participants often use the group chat to share photos of how they are getting steps, ask others how they achieved their goals, offer words of motivation and plan group activities to increase their challenge scores. Admins often post in the group chat to make announcements or highlight top performers they’ve seen in detailed reporting.

Note: Our chat feature is optional. If you do not wish to offer this feature to your users, we can turn it off and it will not appear in the app.

Team Chat

Motivate teammates to meet an overall goal

Team chat is available for clients who use the team leaderboard mode. For every team that is created (either by the admin or users), a team chat thread is created. All members of that team are automatically added to the thread.

As team leaderboard is a very competitive mode, we see many participants using team chat to encourage their teammates to stay moving, discuss competition and plan ways to improve their activity to beat out other teams. Team chat is an optimal experience for users who do not wish to engage in a larger group discussion. Team chat is still lively, but with a smaller group of individuals the participant may know better.

Note: Our chat feature is optional. If you do not wish to offer this feature to your users, we can turn it off and it will not appear in the app.

Direct Chat

Direct chat with another individual

Users are able to send direct, one-to-one messages to their friends. Some individuals may be too shy to speak up in the group chat, but feel more comfortable directly messaging someone they know well. Direct, one-to-one chat ensures everyone can develop a social community, no matter how small, even if it is with just one other person.

One-to-one chat can also be used for individual coaching. Coaches can message users directly providing suggestions and accountability in a private and completely individualized environment.

Note: Our chat feature is optional. If you do not wish to offer this feature to your users, we can turn it off and it will not appear in the app.
